Saturday – we had an easy morning and then had plans to meet some American friends we have just connected with at a fun new beach in Devonport. Cheltenham beach is perfect during low tide because it stays the same depth forever! We had heard great things and it did not disappoint!
the kids were instantly down in the water boogie boarding. I am not sure if I should get 2 more boards or just stick with 1. Charlie does a great job sharing and they have a BLAST on it. If we had 3 then they would all want us to pull them. hmmm – guess I’ll stick with 1.
Rangitoto is quickly becoming one of my favorite sights in Auckland. From many beaches, it looks the same. You could take this same shot from St Heliers beach and from Devonport and it looks the same.
I love seeing all of the sailboats out. you can see how shallow it was – where it is sandy colored is where the water was only up to my shins.
these kids have NO idea how good they have it right now. we are literally on a beach and in the ocean once per day!
our St Heliers Bay is down the coast in this picture.
bill went out there and could really make the kids go FAST on the inch of water.
how fun!
Today while driving back to our house we commented on what an incredible city Auckland is. It is safe, there is always activity along the ocean and we have TONS of amazing beaches to choose from – all within 20 minutes from our house. It was hot and beautiful today and there were maybe 25-30 people on this entire beach! Not many big cities have so many things going for it. If only we could move it a bit closer to our friends and families in the states…
having our lunch! we forgot ellie’s hat today.
the Gold family – Katherine has become a fast friend. She is always up for anything and has traveled and seen so many things here! Sadly they are moving back to NYC in 4 weeks. Josh works for Coca Cola and they have been here for 1 year. Little Lucy is a 2 year old who communicates like an 8 year old and is generous and kind. She handles our craziness with the best of them. Charlie loves her. They also have “baby Charlie” who is 6 months old and is a dream baby.
Thanks Gold family for a fun day! Hope we can squeeze in another adventure before you all leave!
