I have been avoiding "friend" parties for a long time. Charlie has officially attended a ton of parties so was begging to have his own this year. I relented and so far we are planning on doing an "every other" year rule. So this year Charlie has his party and next year the girls will get a party. This will allow me to stay sane during the March and April months.
We planned Charlie's birthday for a Sunday evening after his birthday. From 3-6:30. After looking at the various groups of friends he could invite (school, church, soccer, old friends, etc) we narrowed in on his soccer group plus braxon and landon. It was a good number (8 invited - 6 came) and all lived within an easy distance from our house.
Braxton and Landon came over right after Church because I was helping out their fam a bit that day. It is super easy to have them around. During that time the kids were playing dogs and ellie dressed up as Charlie. super cute photo of Ellie almost strangling Braxon and Charlie. Note: if you let your kids come to my house I will ensure they stay alive, but that is about it.
We also busted out the TREX costume.
always a hit
the party started and we had the group of 7 year old boys in a constant state of wrestling. It was a dream though - the weather was perfect and the kids just played and played. The best part about starting a party at 7 is that they have figured out how to just get along and it was simple!
ninja swords!
dinner time - pizza to the rescue!
after dinner we had the kids go down and watch a few short films from Kung Fu Panda - to help channel them a bit and let them digest before presents and cake.
Bill busted out some serious Happy Birthday tunes - even our beloved neighbor Sarah texted me that she loved hearing Bill. Now that our windows are open the whole neighborhood can hear Bill. ha!
so happy!
I have really relaxed - even bought a cake from the store!
present time!
the boys loved the fart card.
lots of awesome squirt guns and boy toys!
The lineup: Landon, Colin, Justin, Mitchell, Charlie, Braxton
The afternoon was easy for me and Bill because Alex our delightful neighbor had the girls over to play and they found her makeup and had a lot of fun as you can probably tell by the look of Alex's face.
Charlie is rocking his cursive and loved writing the thank you notes in cursive.
bubba and pappy's sweet mula. Charlie loved the 2 dollar bills.
such a fun afternoon celebrating Charlie!
