trying new foods
i never get sick of the faces charlie makes when trying new foods. here he is trying pureed carrots for the first time. he was not a fan. i love that even when he is gagging on the food - he still opens his mouth up for more. after this video we put a bit of mashed up bananas in it and then he chowed it down. nanners fix everything :). he is also really liking sweet potatoes so those are now part of his daily diet.

mmm...nanners!!!
since charlie is over 4 months we have decided to start solid foods. we have tried rice cereal and bananas, which we call nanners. he loves the nanners because of the sweetness and now makes a nasty face when presented with plain rice cereal. our solution is to mix the nanners and the rice cereal to give him some variety. here are a few pics of the messiness that will continue.

back at it
yesterday i pushed charlie in the BOB for 7 hot, humid, hilly miles. a few weeks ago i ran 6 miles by myself and felt really good, but now that i pushed him for a bit more i feel like i am back to my old running self. this feels especially good because i have been sick a lot over the past 2 weeks - first with another bout of mastitis and then with a sinus infection that i am just getting over. i am running the twin cities 10 miler in the beginning of october, which is a nice motivator. i laugh that i thought i could maybe run a marathon this fall. i just don't have the time to dedicate to a lot of long runs. i am also amazed at how long it takes your body to recover from having a baby. i had no idea that even though i was in shape throughout my pregnancy that getting back to my pre-pregnancy exercise shape would be hard work!

4 months!
wow - i cannot believe charlie is already 4 months! at his 4 month appointment he weighed 13 lbs & 12 oz and was 25 inches long. i thought he was well over 14 lbs and swear that if he hadn't gone #2 yesterday (he only goes #2 every 4 days or so - so they are substantial!) he would have been a 14 pounder. oh well. now that he is starting to chow on rice cereal he will surely put on some chub.
i have to record charlie's favorite activities because otherwise i know i will forget. i do have this calendar that i am supposed to write on, but weeks are left blank because i forget about it. i guess the blog will have to do.
charlie currently loves to stand, walk (yes - he puts one foot in front of the next and walks around our island with us only holding his fingers), grab anything in front of him, hang out in the bjorn (facing out - doing what big people do), watch lily play catch, talk to daddy, and eat off of a spoon.
here is charlie waiting at church for his dedication. i just love the belt!
