Saturday morning (June 6th), we left Spokane about 8am and were in Seattle about 12:30pm. We rented an Airbnb a half block of Green Lake and it was a great area, an ok place, but got the job done. After arriving and settling in we took an Uber downtown to the waterfront to start our trip off with a ferry boat ride. It was AMAZING to be by the sea again. I really really really miss smelling the salt water and seeing the ocean.
waiting for the ferry boat tour.
our seattle weather was over-the-top! we were in the 80s-90s the whole time without clouds or rain. that NEVER happens there (apparently).
ahhhhhh – gorgeous!
Bill’s blind spinning test to see who was going to take the first adventure with him – to buy cotton candy – yum!
glory!

Claire.
everyone sticky and happy.
waiting to load. we wanted to do the ferris wheel but the line was ridiculous so skipped it.
Charlie – he is getting so old!

Space Needle
Charlie was cranky.
Gorgeous day to see Mt. Rainier.
Great first thing to do to get a perspective of Seattle
seeing all of the cargo loading gear brought me back to Tamaki dr in Auckland.
about this time the wheels were coming off the bus with the kids – we haven’t traveled in a long time and we had lost our mojo. thankfully after 1 day of cranky, whiny kids they really pulled it together and were rock stars. guess we need to travel more!
bored kids were taking pictures of themselves.
after the ferry ride – we beat the heat by going to the Aquarium. The kids loved seeing all the fish again.
Seattle’s Aquarium had awesome open pools to touch the starfish, etc. the kids love these!
a massive octopus working on a mr. potato head doll – they put food inside of it and he works to get it open.
jellies!
wrapping up.
we walked through Pike Place Market at the end of the day – to avoid crowds.
the famous throwing fish – although no one bought a fish so none were thrown. It smelled horrible so I was happy to snap a photo and move on.
the flower markets were incredible!
the original starbucks
wam, bam, done.
we took an uber to Paseo – a popular take out Caribbean place and it was delicious! thanks to my friend Kristen for all the great recommendations. There is no seating, so we enjoyed it on a park bench while the kids built up their immune systems by touching everything dirty while eating. yuck! but the food rocked!
we wrapped up our day by heading back to the airbnb and got the kids down and crashed!
