UGH!!!

January 2012 026

the packers lost to the giants AGAIN tonight in a playoff game (they lost to the giants in 2007 – we were at that game)! it was brutal. near the end of the game when bill and I were so sick to our stomachs we weren’t even hungry (and it was well past supper time), bill drew this picture of a packer player dropping a catchable ball/fumbling/somehow giving up the ball to the giants. we were all “ree sad” about the loss and how horrible they played. but they still played a great season and went 15-1. we still love you packers! Go Pack Go!

charlie’s first packer game

on new years day we took charlie to his first packer game! if you know me you know I am in love with the green bay packers. in my opinion, there is nothing better than walking into the stadium at lambeau on game day (for sports venues that is). I was so excited when my dad was willing to give up his ticket so charlie could come with bill & i. the packers played the lions and since the packers had already clinched the 1st seed for the playoffs they decided to not even play Rodgers, which made most people think the game would be lame. however, it turned into an awesome game with lots of touchdowns (11 between the two teams) and lead changes. flynn, the backup quarterback, set 2 records with the most touchdowns (6) and passing yards (470) in one game.

here we are walking towards the stadium. uncle tom is giving charlie a lift. suzanne and tom sat on the opposite side of the field as us.

had to get a picture before we walked in.

charlie, on bill’s shoulders, as we walk through the tunnel into the stadium. his eyes were huge as he was soaking it all in. at one point he whispered “I like dis!!!”. that’s my boy!

cheering while the players were running out. throughout the game charlie would shout “go pack go” and pump his fist independently – people around us loved it.

January 2012 013

me & charlie. he was being stubborn and would not give a smile. it was also really cold at the game. it was lightly snowing the entire game and I was freezing, but charlie insisted to not wear his gloves or hat for the majority of the game. he insisted he was fine, but don’t worry I still asked him every 5 minutes if he wanted to put his gloves on or if he was cold (it drove bill crazy).

last play by the packers – they needed to score to win.

January 2012 026

they scored!!! charlie loved giving everyone around us high fives after the pack would score.

15-1 packers!

charlie was a total rockstar at the game. we think he was the youngest fan in the outdoor seats. not only did he not complain about the cold or the wind he used the toilet twice and stayed dry while he had to get to the bathrooms which is quite the trip (as a side note - he is rocking the underwears and will refuse to go unless he actually has to really go, which is sometimes frustrating. but he made it both 5 hr trips to/from green bay dry and the game. pretty awesome).  we kept him full with hot chocolate, popcorn, hot dog & pretzel. I don’t think I have ever had that much food at a game. anyway - it is incredible that charlie could keep fairly still and focused for that long (especially if you know how active he is). we left our house at 10:15am and the game ended at 4:10pm which is well after his usual naptime. he was exhausted, but had a blast. here he is on bill’s shoulders falling asleep as we walked to our car.

Super Bowl Champs & 30 weeks!!!

what a day! the packers win the super bowl and being 30 weeks pregnant!

me and the girls before leaving for our family friendly super bowl party. bill and I concluded that I might now be at the same size I was when I delivered charlie at almost 42 weeks!

just so you can see the shirt…we’ll never forget you brent.

in other news, I had a great ultrasound today. the girls are measuring the exact same and weigh 3 lbs each. the measurements continue to get harder to get because they are all over each other. baby b is laying her head on baby a’s stomach so it is squished. their feet are criss-crossed on either side of me. it is quite difficult to see more than one baby part at a time on the ultrasound. the pictures that came from today’s ultrasound are barely recognizable.

thankfully, I have had a pretty easy twin pregnancy. I am able to still workout almost every day and I can keep up with charlie pretty well. I only feel like I have to nap every couple of days or so, but what gets me most is the tightness and “ripping” feeling I have down my middle. it is as if I might just split in half (basically my abs are splitting apart, which explains the pain, but doesn’t make it go away). I am not sure what these last 6 weeks will feel like, but I know the longer the girls are in the better so I am all for sticking it out.

I finished the girls blankets. here is baby a’s blanket:

28.5 weeks

this pregnancy just keeps clipping by. I am so excited to reach the 30 week mark. we were able to see the girls today and they are doing great! this is the first ultrasound where they measured a bit different, but my doctor reassured us that the variance is so small that there is no concern and is well within the margin of error of ultrasound machines. both girls are still head down and baby a is really low so it is hard to even get a good head circumference measurement on her. baby a is measuring about 27 weeks 6 days and weighs about 2 lbs 5 ounces. baby b is measuring about 28 weeks 2 days and weighs about 2 lbs 10 ounces (so they are about 2-3 days off). their weights are calculated on their head, abdomen and femur measurements. what they mostly look at is that both babies continue to grow from their last measurements and stay within a reasonable size of each other.  we continue to be grateful that our girls are thriving and growing so well. praise be to our God.

in case you were curious what a placenta looks like on ultrasound – here you go. the u/s tech has to check the placenta, cervix, etc and just happened to print a picture of the placenta. lovely. it is the big grey blob near the bottom of the screen.

in other baby news, we are now starting to put the nursery together for the girls. bill and I were talking about how this is really the first time we are setting up a nursery before the baby arrives. when we were having charlie we moved 3 weeks after he was born so we just had random stuff everywhere and then put together the nursery over his first year of life! we ordered beautiful girl bedding for the girls and I can’t wait to get it into the girls room.

my parents came this past weekend to help me out while bill was on call and my dad was put to work on many house projects. I love getting things checked off my list! thanks dad and mom! we also cheered the packers on together and had some friends over to help celebrate. I still can’t believe they are going to the super bowl!!! go pack go!

charlie and his buddy “rah rah”. too bad c little never smiles for the camera. addison, on the other hand, is a little model!

go pack go

charlie is obviously a packer fan. while the pack has not played the best football against the vikes - at least charlie was cheering the pack on in uniform.
