the day after we had the 57 degree weather in january it snowed. only about 3 inches, but enough to make charlie excited to go outside and play. I was so impressed – he played outside alone for about 30 minutes. I had to keep checking on him since it is not like summer where you can leave the door open, but he had a blast. he was delighted to eat the snow, which is currently his favorite thing. oh and also taking off our runoff gutters and playing with them. I have a funny feeling these will be buried in random places by snow this winter.

I am one proud mom. charlie is doing awesome memorizing scripture. we work on a verse each week while we are having breakfast in the mornings. it has been a joy to watch him transform from being resistant to memorizing verses to now being proud of what he has learned. I will hear him randomly reciting the verses we have worked on and he will occasionally call me out by saying “mom. be kind to one another!” (he hears me repeat this verse frequently to him so he likes to remind me too). my prayer is that these verses will provide a solid foundation for him to build his faith in Christ.

we started our routine in the beginning of october and here are the verses he has memorized:

Proverbs 30:5 “Every word of God proves true.”

Deuteronomy 6:5 “For you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your might” (when he does this one he likes to stand up on a chair and put his arms in a flex move above his head when he says might. classic)

Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God.”

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Psalm 136:1a “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.”

Matthew 22:39 “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind to one another.”

Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born…”

Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest and on earth, peace, good will towards men.”

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life!” (we took 2 weeks to memorize this one)

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters.”

it was 57 degrees yesterday! we have had such a mild winter. I think we have had around 4 inches of snow total. laura was here yesterday, which made going to the park with the kids much easier.
