February happenings 2017

A big snow storm came at the beginning of February. This is how the roads get in spokane. there are no plows. even in spokane they had 12 inches in 24 hours.

it was worth getting up to the mountain though! because they had 42 inches over 3 days and it was incredible.

Mitchell, Colin, Charlie -- 3 soccer buddies that play on the snow as well. So much fun having good friends up there!

We skied all day Saturday without kids and didn't take any pictures b/c it was too good. Sunday morning we found a sitter for the girls and then skied fun stuff with them on Sunday afternoon.

the girls dropping down into some steep terrain! pretty impressive!

they get so tired!

snow breaks!

digging out the car

Bill was able to skip out on work on monday (never is that normal, but happened to be booked on a case where he wasn't really needed). Schweitzer got 15 fresh inches on Monday so we were all playing hooky together. So fun!

we begged for the girls to go into kindercamp for a couple of hours, but they wouldn't do it. Next time we will make them. they did great, but 15 inches of heavy snow was up to their chest. just so tiring for them!

break at the outback - playing with mr. potato heads.

Claire!

Charlie practicing jumps. it was a perfect day for that!

more February to come!!!

Charlie's Mt Spokane Ski Race

Bill was on a ski trip at the end of Jan and Charlie had a ski race scheduled at Mt Spokane. So I had Phoebe hang with the girls for the day and I took Charlie to Mt Spokane for the race. It was fun to see him enjoy himself and start learning what race days are like.

for the moms - it is a cold day. lots of time spent on the side of the hill.

the SARS U8 boys spent much of their downtime like this. ha!

Charlie came away with 6th! he was thrilled. he is a bit of a cautious racer, but is continuing to improve. we want him to have fun, learn about sportsmanship and competition. In fact, watching him come down at the speed he was was just fine for me. ha! I'm sure Bill would feel different than this.
Proud of you Charlie! Can't wait to see how you grow as a skier this year!

January Happenings continued

found these gems of ellie and claire! So precious!

ellie - still in control and future newscaster. when she was little she went to charlie's preschool open house (she was like 16 months) and sat at a desk and was all BUSINESS. at that time we pronounced her Natalie Morales -- love seeing that she is still just like that!

Claire has always been our actress and goofy one. She still continues! Love her spirit!

I'll never tire of seeing these two next to each other in just undies. seriously incredible at how "identical" they are!

I mean look at that! Ellie is on the left, Claire right.

Charlie and Drew having a blast!

proof of the kids' hard work!
Charlie is a master student.

his reading comprehension tests show what a stellar reader he is!

Claire! doing great with phonograms and spelling tests!

Ellie! Also mastering the spelling tests and phonograms!

These are the quilts my friend Sari made of Bill's old t-shirts! So cool.

on to Feb!

January Happenings 2017

We do a lot of school and skiing in January. Leaving right after pickup with the kids on Fridays has been great. I get up, have a normal dinner, fire in the fire place and then Bill ideally arrives via carpool or his own car around 6:30-7. it is great not waiting around!

Such gorgeous views one day

a little pano out the balcony of our bach.

I've been skate skiing most Saturday afternoons and it is gorgeous at picnic point!

Back on the mountain with Bill.

these pictures just don't do it justice!

perfect day.

Charlie and Mitchell are an adorable pair on the mountain. they have so much fun and I'm sure many adventures!

skiing on a cloud this day!

a random photo of ellie. Her left eye was a bit swollen so I snapped it.

Charlie's Q2 report card - stellar as usually.

Claire's story about her friends Brynn and Drew.

Snow day!!!

Bill lovingly cauterized my nose. It was horrible after, but I am thankful the decrease in bloody noses!

after we get library books - charlie will read for hours! it is great!

I am loving my water rower and watching Poldark.
more fun continues. We are so thankful for all the family time we get at the mountain. It is a delightful way to spend our winters!
