May 2nd Snow Storm!

I woke up this morning to Bill saying “ Steph, you have to see this!”.

This was at about 6 am this morning. I instantly checked to confirm Charlie’s school was canceled. Yet – another snow day.

By 7 am we lost power (thank the Lord the coffee was made at 6 am!). The kids were terrors and I was sad that my coffee was cold and I couldn’t heat it up (baby – I know). So I loaded the kids up  (shoveled some of the HEAVIEST snow ever) and headed to the RAC at 9 am only to find out they were shutting down for the day. I almost cried.
I was about losing it when Becca called and said she was totally stuck in her house. I then had the BEST idea. I told her I would load up the kids – put a movie on in the car and come over and help her shovel. So that is what I did. I got a killer trap, back, and arm workout shoveling some massive drifts and boulders and got my car out of the middle of the road and helped Becca finish her drive before heading home for lunch. I will upload pics that she took after that. See Becca had her home inspection scheduled for this afternoon – perfect right?

So during naptime we got 2 great visitors – Nolan and Becca.

Ellie and Claire were delighted. Becca moved Nolan to her lap for a bit and Ellie instantly said “me hold!”.

Also post naps – Ellis & Miller came over. Charlie and Miller were downstairs playing intensely the whole time and Ellis helped set up things for Ellie & Claire.

So is Claire.

Charlie before bed with a sign about how much snow we got today. 14 or so inches and the kids didn’t even go outside to play because I gave away the snow gear already! classic.

surviving

a part of me feels like I am just keeping my head above water with the things we have going on, but then I look at pictures and realize that the kids are just doing regular life with a lot of things getting packed up and sold around them. they barely notice the things leaving and are loving the extra space and the fact that I don’t care all that much about having piles of toys around.

here is ellie ready to go off shopping.

I love the handbag on each arm. she means business people.

one morning while laura was here the kids were each building their own duplo houses. ellie took hers very seriously (are you seeing a theme – Ellie is very intense about all things she does).

ellie really worked on her house and had a lot of parts to it.

she wanted to have both princesses in the castle thing.

the weather finally warmed up this past week (only lasted 5 days because tonight we are supposed to have snow) and we had a lunch picnic on the deck.

they both laid down for a bit. I love that they were facing towards each other here.

DSC_3944

lunch went ok – there were lots of spilled plates and both Ellie & Claire tried to eat their lunches while laying down.

Claire also wore a dress that was Sadie’s and I busted her trying to get something off the counter.

this past weekend we decided to try to put the girls on their crib mattresses but ON THE FLOOR. they actually did a pretty good job with staying on their “beds” and slept the whole night like that. I was up a few times with them sad because they were off the beds or something. we basically wanted to see how they would do out of their cribs since we need to transition to that when we arrive in NZ. after seeing that they did an ok job on their first night we decided to stick them back in their cribs since it would be much easier for my mom and laura to implement. we will see how our strategy works when we arrive in NZ.

here is claire on her bed.
