Broken record...

I feel like a broken record - we ski at Schweitzer and it is beautiful!
This time Tom & Laura were with us! They flew in on Friday evening and we headed up after school was done. Charlie has a mid-winter break for the whole week and it is a delight to have Tom & Laura out to soak up some time with them.

The girls happy to have Bubba & Pappy here. Before we left to the bach on Friday.

we had a delicious meal at Baxters on Cedars in Sandpoint before heading up the mountain.

We had a foot of snow overnight and had fresh snow and blue skies on Saturday - that never happens. Bubba volunteered to have the girls for the morning so Bill, Pappy and I skied the powder for the morning. What a fun time to ski and have your legs burn!

We had lunch with Charlie and grabbed Bubba and the girls and had a great afternoon skiing.

Another break at the Outback. The kids are skiing amazing! So fast! Such fun flying down the mountain with our clan. I do spend much of the time nervous about something happening, but I have to let them do fun things. I can't keep them in a box forever!

almost 10 years together. love you weyam - matching jackets and all!
more weekends still to come! If you want to come visit - COME!!! we have space to have you and want to share in the beauty of the PNW!

Blue bird Schweitzer weekend

Saturday we got a peek of the lake.

getting a little bluer on Saturday.

Then this was Sunday!!!! Glorious!

It is probably the most gorgeous ski area I have ever skied at (Bill said the same thing).
Lake Pend Oreille is just amazing and there is so many layers of mountains.

these 3!

Charlie - with a fresh scrap on his face from a crash he took on Saturday with STARS.

We skied a pretty intense run the first one out - a steep Black diamond and the kids were tired.
Since the sun was shining we headed up to Taps and got bloody's for us and kids had some of our lunch and then we broke down and got nachos....

the base area. We love Schweitzer.

mid bite!

Ellie taking a break.

a few snow ghosts yet.

so thankful for these restful weekends up at Schweitzer at our new bach. It is great to get out of town on the weekends and be together.

Proverbs Chapter 1

Last week I got a call from Charlie's teacher - Beccy Holland - to let me know that Charlie had been one of the first in his class to recite the whole first chapter of Proverbs! He was so excited!

all the kids at the Oaks memorize verses of Proverbs throughout their years. by the time they graduate they will have memorized the entire book. the best part is that as a mom - I'm not quizzing charlie on this - he just learns it while at school. I actually didn't even know he was working on it that far when I got the call!

Friday the kids who memorized the next section of Proverbs and said it outloud with 5 mistakes or less received certificates.

Receiving his certificate.

We are SO proud of you Charlie!!! What a delight to watch you storing up God's Word in your heart! We love the Oaks and are so thankful for the dedication of the teachers and staff there!

90 Stella Lane - our bach

Thanks to my dad and mom - who are basically our "bank" - we purchased a ski in/ski out condo at Schweitzer Mountain on Friday (1/29). We are so happy! It makes our weekends a true vacation and will use it year round with our boat being moored in Sandpoint in the summer. Who wants to come visit? Seriously - this location is gorgeous - so many beautiful things to do!

We are calling it our Bach because in New Zealand - cabins are called a Bach.

Living room - check out that vintage furniture. It isn't pretty, but it is in good shape. We aren't complaining!

we have already rearranged it, but this was after my mom and I got things put together.

kitchen

hall from the living room towards the main floor guest room and entry.

master

master - love that we can use our old bedding.

master closets and bathroom with a sauna

sauna - we tested it out saturday night - was pretty nice!

the loft area and 3rd bed and 1/2 bath

other guest room bathroom

guest room on the main floor

coming in from the landing - to the left is a big pantry and straight ahead is the guest room

up these stairs to the loft

3rd floor bedroom, which we will turn into a bunk room/sleep as many kids as possible room

from bedroom into the loft.

sleeper bed in loft - the loft is actually really big.

looking down into the living room

one of our favorite parts of this place - they had the angled area closeted off and there are aweome drawers for storage in there and a twin bed (with 3 twin mattresses under it for extra sleeping)

the funniest little half bath known to man - but it is great to have a bathroom up there for kids.

we put another mattress in the back of it b/c it is so big

Bill insisted on rearranging it - so we need another lamp, but breaking up the seating does help with the flow of the room

loved our fire roaring in the background!

the kids busted out pie face and had a BLAST!

Charlie!

they were thrilled to eat the cream and kept wanting more turns.

claire

i did it and have to say it was pretty funny - it hits you quick!

sunday the kids bundled lily up and i think she was happy!

we had a gorgeous day on Sunday with 7 inches of fresh snow. we all skied with our neighbor girl Alex (in spokane and now up at schweitzer - we just can't live farther than 100 feet from the Neuperts!) and had a blast!
Check these photos out!

Ellie and Alex - we were skiing a black diamond - Ponderay run.

So we closed on the condo on Friday so my dad kindly offered to watch the kids and move them to and fro on Friday while my mom and I had a great day driving up to Schweitzer - moving our stuff in - hitting up pucci's pub for a cider and nacho lunch - snowshoeing - etc. It was fabulous! My dad got kids to where they needed to be, played with the girls, tried to run some quick errands in the hour break he had and while doing that pulled my big truck with rocket box on top into a parking garage - whoops! so he heard a big crack and backed out and that was the end of our rocket box. On the way home from Schweitzer this weekend we dropped it off at the dump. See you later. It was great timing because now our stuff gets to stay in our ski room!

What a blessing this condo will be to us and we pray our many family and friends. We can't wait to share it and our love for skiing and the outdoors - so anyone who wants to visit is welcome! Thanks mom and dad for making this happen earlier than we expected!!!
